Pick up any health or diet related magazine and you will almost certainly find an article entitled something like “Top Tips For Losing Weight.”

So not be left out in the cold we have decided to publish our own.

Do bear in mind that there is no real secret to losing weight – if you have been searching for the absolute truth and not yet discovered what you may think everyone else knows apart from you don’t be too dismayed

1. Exercise

It may seem obvious but mobilty is the only way to burn calories and body fat. Do not be fooled by slimming pills or diet plans that promise a fat burning effect by doing nothing.

One of the best forms of exercise is swimming. The thought of donning a bathing costume with all your body (and fat) on display may be unappealing – tough it out, no pain no gain.

2. Keep Weight Loss Statistics

A different school of though to the majority who recommend no keep tabs and stats. We disagree, get competive – make you weight loss target into a game that you simply must win.

3. Keep Your Diet A Secret (at first)

Don’t tell your friends and family that you are on a diet and plan to lose weight – this could bring unnecessary pressure and ruin your diet chances.

4. Set A Realistic Weight Loss Target

Trying to lose weight rapidly will most likely not happen and if it does it could have detrimental effect on your health.

Give yourself a 4 month weight loss target and aim toward a special event ie, a holiday, a birthday or even Christmas.

5. Don’t Starve Yourself

Contrary to popular belief – starvation diets do not work long term and can have the opposite effect. Your body may go into starvation mode and start to store body fat.

An online weight loss club or real world, its up to you. A real world weight loss club locally to you would be better – strength in number and great for support.

8. Don’t Buy Anymore Clothes

This one is a biggy – buying clothes for your current size is admitting defeat – if you have a passion for fashion buy an item of clothing that is one or two sizes too small and hang it on your wardrobe door as a potential reward

9. Obesity

If you are extremely overweight or obese and have a high Body Mass Index (BMI) a visit to your GP or doctor should be in order – there may an underlying reason why you are obese.

10. Don’t Keep Searching For Weight Loss Tips

You already know how to lose weight – it is not a secret and there is no mystery. Is it just a question of doing something and doing it today.
