A fairly familiar diet tablet often found on the shelves of Boots and Superdrug and many leading UK supermarkets is Formoline L112.

Formoline L112 is  fat binder made from natural ingredients that is targeted at aiding dieters reduce their daily calorie consumption by stopping or preventing a percentage of dietary fat from being absorbed by the stomach.

The main ingredient present within the product formula is polyglucosamine, a natural fibre that binds to the fat in your food, reducing the amount you digest.

Formoline L112 contains an active fibre ingredients called polyglucosamine that can attach itself or bind with dietary fat in the digestive system.

The polyglucosamine is not digested and absorbed by the stomach, so any fat that binds or attaches to it is carried in tandem through the digestive system and can be expelled naturally via bowel movements.

Ultimately the fat bound to the active ingredient is not absorbed and so the body does not have access to the calories that this fat would otherwise provide. In addition the expanded and indigestible fibres give a feeling of satiety or fullness (appetite suppressing effect.)

Does Formoline L112 Cause Side Effects

Should not pose a problem to health if taken as suggested. The active ingredient is based on a shellfish derivative and so anyone with an allergy to shellfish should avoid.

Vegetarians should also be made aware of the above shellfish association.

Does Formoline L112 Work

The clinical data complied is not too convincing – this is a commonality with a majority of diet products that are based around shellfish of crustaceans.
