Acomplia Slimming Drug Taken Off Shelves

Oct 27, 2008   Categories: Rimonabant Acomplia

Acomplia Now Banned Diet Drug

As a precaution the former prescription only slimming drug Acomplia, the brand name of Rimonabant, has been removed from the shelves and chemists and now faces a ban on sales in the UK.

It is thought that Acomplia could be linked to suicide and sudden death. This sounds frightening and the risk to health is minimal but nonetheless appears to exist – so for now Acomplia joined Ephedra as banned weight loss pill.

When Acomplia arrived on the UK consumer weight loss pill market two years ago it was thought to be the wonder slimming pill that costs £2 per day and would tackle the rising obesity problem.

Latest figures published suggest that the safety testing was far from complete with several associated side effects coming to light – some minor and some severe including suicide.

Around 2,500 adverse reactions have been reported by UK patients since it became available to private buyers two years ago. U.S. authorities refused to approve the drug amid mounting clinical evidence of the suicide dangers.

But just four months ago Acomplia was cleared to be used as a last resort solution on the NHS by the Government’s rationing body, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NIHCE)

Scaremongering aside, Acomplia is one a handful of weight control products that are thought to cause a side effect. the majority of natural herbal based diet pills do not cause a side effect. Read more about Acomplia

Acomplia is a pharmaceutical product that is drug classed and far from the natural world. This further fuels the argument natural weight loss products should be the preferred choice.

Safe Weight Loss Pills

Regardless on any specific brand Hoodia Gordonii based weight loss pills have a decade of clinical testing and so far nothing has come light. Hoodia Gordonii remains the safest natural appetite suppressant in existence. Read more about Hoodia Gordonii
